In the history of American locomotives few diesels are more famous nor left a greater legacy than the Electro-Motive F3. Successor to the landmark EMD FT & the first of the fabled “F-units” rated at 1,500 horsepower, the F3 went to work for over 50 U.S. railroads across the breadth of the continent.
